Never heard the 880s but i have two pairs of beyers now.. they're good phones no doubt.

I've gone crazy this year with headphones, i've meant to come back to this post and update it.. turns out in a year i've brought nearly 10 pairs of high end headphones.. crazy crazy!!!

I got my first pair of grados the other day too, the limited edition for headfi HF-1s .. they're very different in presentation to all my other cans and are as everyone on headfi says, great for rock type stuff.. the kind of music i rarely listen to anymore.

The biggest jump i've made is to electrostatic phones, these truly are special cans to listen to, so much so i brought a silent laptop so i could listen to my "computer" music in silence without any intrusions into the headphone sound.

Having said that i'm waiting on my 2nd pair of K1000 ear speaker headphones that i talked about earlier.. these are now discontinued, earlier than we all expected (we were told the end of 2005, ie. xmas and beyond) .. also getting the official amp for them that can drive two pairs simultaneously.

They're not quite as natural as some of my electrostatics but their soundstage is addictive and with my electronica they work very very well.. the best of all perhaps.

Headphones are fun things to collect and enjoy, but i really need to stop for a bit now

Have you tried using the clip? It reduces cord noise by a lot. If you want truly impressive bass, I wouldn't recommend the E4c, as the bass is pretty comparable to the ER4P. I used to have all 3 IEMs, but sold the E4cs because they were outclassed in a stable environment by the Ety ER4S, and by the UM2s on the go. You could try the Westone UM2s, I've been very satsified with them.

How's the bass and overall sound on the UM2s compared to the ER4P?

You can get the Sennheiser HD580 cheap these days and make some very cheap upgrades so they'll sound very close to the HD600. You can get HD600 grilles and the HD650 cable so it'll sound very close to the HD600 with very little extra cash outlayed on top of the cost of the HD580.
