Hi,
I've used EAC in win xp for a while and something I've noticed (actually, can't help but notice) is that if during ripping I open other applications (e.g. browsers), go back to EAC, then try going elsewhere (e.g. browser windows), EAC would pop up again on top insistently. Sometimes it keeps on doing this for a whole minute and I can't do anything while that's happening!
Any idea what's going on, and what to do about it, short of opening a new user account exclusively for ripping? (something I'm almost prepared to do)
it does this in w2k as well...
EAC isn't "advertising itself" by popping up while ripping...

EAC is working, the window is working, so automatically it returns to the EAC window. I've had this with quite a few programs (not ripping). This can be fixed, if you inform him about the problem he'll probably try to fix it.

This usually happens if you're using the Compress In Background feature (EAC Options -> Tools -> On extraction, start external compressors queued in the background). It works all right for me if I turn that off.

Ah, thanks, good to know.

Well, I want to keep that feature for the extra speed.

I think if you start up Task Manager, go to the Applications tab, right-click EAC, and choose Minimize, then EAC will no longer pop up. Then, to get it back, go back to Task Manager and choose Bring To Front.
Try that and see if it helps. It's a little annoying that EAC's interface doesn't allow you to do this directly (with the minimize/maximize/close buttons on the titlebar), but the Task Manager trick solved this problem for me.

Is ctrl-alt-del the task manager?

If you have Win2000/XP, that is.
Win9x and ME don't have that nice feature. You have to use TASKMAN.EXE as a half-assed replacement. (I'm not sure whether SometimesWarrior's trick will work with that...)

I don't compress in the background, but the main EAC window can be minimized with the extracting audio data window button only (the main Window is linked). Click once. The minimize action can take one or two seconds to respond, because EAC doesn't seem to check user events very often.
