what i was wondering is whats the best app for tagging my flac files... they are all full albums and id love to use the freedb database

any ideas guys biggrin.gif

oh yeah, also i was wondering how i can configure the flac frontend so that i can use part of the filenames and folders for tags?

anyone?

foobar would let you both tag from freedb (with the foo_freedb component), or tag from filename (with masstagger).

Either 0.8.3 or latest 0.9 beta.

If you select "tags" and leave it at the "auto-detect" setting, you will get your tags pretty well out of file names/folders. I don't know which combinations work, but in my case (folders are "Artist - Album" and track names are "Artist - TrackNr - TrackTitle") it works perfectly. You probably won't get "year" or "genre" out of this, though, if you care about these.

I believe FLAC Frontend uses Tag. Check tag.cfg for the numerous (67) detection schemes it uses. Year and Genre can be picked up.

I've never really investigated Tag's auto-detect but I guess the idea is just try it, and if it doesn't work as planned, edit the tag.cfg file to add a mask that matches your file structure at the top.
