I read on Rarewares that 3.97 beta 1 is now the "recommended version". I don't know if that's the "official" recommendation from the developers, or just the guys at Rarewares (maybe they're one and the same, I don't know).
Anyway, I just encoded 2 files using RazorLame as a front end, at CBR 320.
And I got this....
QUOTE
Command: C:\Program Files\Lame\Encoder\3.97 b1\lame.exe -b 320 -ms "G:\Annual reports\2005\!Mixes\1967.wav" "G:\Z Backup\Compile\1967.mp3"
LAME 3.97 (beta 1, Sep 29 2005) 32bits (http://www.mp3dev.org/)
CPU features: MMX (ASM used), SSE (ASM used), SSE2
Using polyphase lowpass filter, transition band: 20094 Hz - 20627 Hz
Encoding G:\Annual reports\2005\!Mixes\1967.wav
to G:\Z Backup\Compile\1967.mp3
Encoding as 44.1 kHz 320 kbps stereo MPEG-1 Layer III (4.4x) qval=3
RazorLame encountered an unknown message from LAME while trying to encode "G:\Annual reports\2005\!Mixes\1967.wav"!

That's just the error message for one of the files, but I got the same error for the other file too.
Despite the error messages, the MP3 files play ok.
Anyone know why there should be an issue?
