What is the difference between itunes automatic 128 setting and just manually selecting 128 with 44.1khz, stereo? Does the filesize become smaller with the default setting and does the sound become better???

Is it safe to say aac users here are not as nitpicky as the mp3 guys? man, still no reply. If this was an lame mp3 topic, there would probably already be a ton of replies

The auto setting just refers to the sampling rate and whether it's mono/stereo. For example if you feed iTunes a 48khz mono wave on auto, it will output 48khz mono AAC.

If you manually set it to 44.1khz stereo, it will resample, make it stereo and output 44.1khz stereo AAC.

That's my understanding anyway.

There is not difference between setting the default CD ripping settings of 128kbps with 44.1KHz and manually setting the bitrate to 128kbps. That is like asking what is the difference between using my key to start my car and hotwiring my car to start it. You are just going a longer route to get the same results.

FYI - the mpeg-4 AAC users, mpeg-4 users, and AAC users are just as picky as the lame users.

You know, the web is not a real time communications medium. Continually posting to your own topic because nobody is answering your exceedingly silly questions makes you look a bit foolish. Especially when you seem to be posting in what is the middle of the night for many of the other people on the forum.

Post once. Wait at least 3 or 4 days before wondering why nobody responded to your post. Maybe nobody's noticed it yet, maybe people are researching it, maybe nobody knows the answer, maybe it's a dumb question. Who knows?

But posting a question and replying to it twice within a 24 hour period griping about the lack of response is generally considered to be trolling.
