Hi,

I've downloaded a live concert from a band which include 21 songs in wma format.

I burned a CD Audio using Nero.

In addition, I want to do a CD Data mp3 for my car player.

I can easily rip the CD Audio and compress in mp3 using EAC, but I guess I could improve the quality by compressing directly from wma to mp3 ?

Which tool to use?

Thanks guys

I've just realised that I posted in the wrong Forum, can the modertor please move this as appropriate.

I do apologize for the mistake.

Thank you

Converting from wma to mp3 always has the intermediate step of converting to wav, you don't get any more quality loss from doing it manually than you would any other way.

And just a reminder unless the wma files were the lossless variety, your transcoding so its a (loss-loss) situation. (Meaning the wma will be the best quality and everything thereafter slightly worse)

I hope they are lossless, I paid for them from a well known band website.

But of course, you can expect everything nowdays...

Of course it all depends on the track length but If they are your typical 3-6k files then they are not.

Checking them with explorer or whatever 'media player' will reveal that information.

If they are indeed lossless then converting them to mp3 with lame should prove transparent for you.

Metallo, since youre running a PC, iTunes, yes iTunes, can make quick work of non DRM protected wmas to mp3 as an automatic option when importing into the library. Also foobar 2000 does a good job, but if youre new to it the learning curve is a little steeper but with good results...Happy transcoding! (And if the wmas are a "Reasonable size" then they probably arent WM lossless...)
