while I really like WavPack, the one flaw that I see with it is that you can't easily tell if a file has been encoded lossless or lossy. I think it'd be helpful if the lossy file had a different extension like .wvl to indicate that it was lossy so you don't have to check the file to remember how you encoded it.

If you use foobar just look at the files properties. It says right there what encoding method was used. Although I agree, a different extension for the lossy files would make more sense. But the encode method is embedded in the files. Just need something to read the tags and such.
