Hi,
is there the possibility of switching to a playlist entry by hitting the respective key?

For example:

I want to hear a Song by, em let's say 'Dead Prez' or 'DAS EFX' or 'Dilated Peoples', anything beginning with 'D'.
--> I hit 'D'
--> The cursor switches to the first entry beginning with a 'D'

Is that possible in Foobar2000 (like it is for example in Windows Media Player)?
How can I activate it?

Thanks.

in 0.8.3: look for the playlistfind plugin

in 0.9: look for typefind

Both are similar, but there are differences in how they search. In both cases, I believe, you have to press a key first (like '/'), then you can type your search phrase.

Thanks but 'Playlist Find' skips to the first entry containing the letter at all.

I couldn't find any option searching for the first entry with the typed letter in front.

Someone got a better idea???

Try both of gfngfgf's suggestions, foo_uie_typefind does what you want.

Okay I'll try this.

Though I don't trust beta-versions...

Let's see if it works as well as 0.8.3...

Well, basically 0.8.3 is also a beta version.
I'd recommend using 0.9b10, unless you have 0.8 plugins that you "need".

Preferences->Playlist find->Search only from front of entry strings

Does this do what you want?
PostScript
Yes thanks this is what I was looking for.

I wish they'd acknowledge that it's going to take a while and release the SDK to people like the audioscrobbler/lastfm team - my profile haen't been updated in months sad.gif

howcome i cant find the option "playlist find" in preferences?

i got the typefind.dll from the link given in the thread and use .9 beta 10 while default user interface.
PostScript
You don't need the Plugin 'Typefind' but the Plugin 'Playlist Find' that only works with 0.8!

Two things:

1) you need to get the latest Columns UI version in order to use typefind.

2) typefind always searches from the front of the string, so the option I mentioned really has no relevance.

Nope, I did not release any version for 0.9 beta 13.
