I am using I-Tunes 6.0.1.3 for Windows.

I would like to import tracks from a Cd into I-Tunes Music folder, without creating the folders that I-Tunes creates automaticaly, using the following format for example: Steve Tyrell - Georgia on my mind . Or better, the same way I can do using EAC naming scheme %A - %T

Does anybody can help me showing a way ? Would there be a script for windows for this task ?

I'm not exactly sure what you want to do, and from where - but one application that many people use is iTunesEncode.

This app uses the iTunes COM interface to encode to M4A from the command line.

If iTunesEncode is no use, have a look at the SDK if you are a programmer.

In iTunes 5 I think it's:

Edit > Preferences > Advanced > General > Uncheck "Keep iTunes Music Folder Organized"

This worked for me. I could keep the files organized, named as I wish.

What is I-Tunes ?

Wouldn't it be easir to just use EAC to do what you want or rename the folder after Itunes rip/encode the cd ?

Yes, you are righ, but I have some reasons not to use EAC/Lame anymore. I think the Gurus from this Forum will kill me, but I would like to express my opinion.

Eac and Lame are excellent. I used them for many years. Now I rip and encode to MP3 using I-Tunes at 224 Kbps CBR, as I can not use VBR due to my Pioneer CDJ-200 Professional CD/Mp3 players are not VBR compatible. At 224 Kbps, I can hear no differences comparing the tracks compressed in EAC/Lame and I-Tunes. EAC is simple, clean, easy, fast, straight, burns, sync with the I-Pod etc. I love it ! The big true is that it is a tremendous success and buzz all over the word and it is being mentioned in all professional audio Forums, certainly because of its excellent AAC and lossless encoders too. I never had problems using it with professional DJing softwares like Visual DiscoMix and MixMeister Pro 6 that I use to beatmix live or use in my home studio. I am a professional musician and DJ. I believe that scientifically speaking EAC/Lame is better to rip/encode to MP3 than I-Tunes, but musically speaking it is not. I think that my MP3s are now sounding better. I made hundred of tests, using different genres, using Yamaha pro amps and KRK and Ohm speakers or professional headphones. My mixer is a professional Pioneer DJM-500. More 5 musicians made the tests with me, and they also preferred I-Tunes.

The second reason that took me to go to I-Tunes is that Freedb used in EAC is not so good as Gracenote used in I-Tunes, where the information about the track is much more complete, where the artist and track names are written correctly Example: Freedb shows Michael Buble ( written wrongly), and Gracenote shows Michael Bublé, (the right way). Additional information about the Artist ( ex. Featuring someone else) is shown by Gracenote, what does not happen with freedb. Now the most important thing is that Gracenote shows the composer tag. As a Jazz musician this killed EAC for me. The composer tag is of extreme importance for me.

I do hope the guys from Apple will read this post and who knows they will make some improvements including my suggestion.

Thanks for the help, but checked or unchecked I-Tunes creates the Artist and Album folder. This is exactly what I do not want. I just want I-Tunes to create a file with the format Artist - Track, in I-Tunes Music folder (NO SUB-FOLDERS)

True ... but EAC cannot sync with an iPod (sorry, I had to go for that one)



FreeDB always has multiple entries with a correct one being very probable ... but I agree that FreeDB entries are often submitted by morons.



Especially in Jazz ... you are absolutely right. I got used to enter composer tags with a right-click tag editor like AudioShell ... just because i don't want to use burst mode ripping with iTunes without proper error detection and secure reading (besides primitive sector synch, that is) - which is my personal killer criterion against iTunes as a ripper.

Additionally, I don't like the way iTunes handles artwork ... it always has to be embedded into the tag which bloats the files if you want to use higher-resolution (e.g. 600x600) ... folder.jpg simply doesn't work (although it would be easy to implement - but I guess this is part of the Microsoft-Apple war).

To shortcut all the discussion:
No, there is absolutely no way to do this. No script in the world will change the behavior of iTunes.

Well,... not directly but maybe a work around would do.

It should be well possible to make a script that takes a number of songs in iTunes, copy the files to the required location, rename the files according to artist and title, add the new files to iTunes and delete the old ones.

I apologize for my mistake. Of course EAC can not sync with I_pod. I was trying to say I-Tunes.
