hello,

Which compile is recommended for optimum quality (I'm not that concerned about encoding speed) as of now? LAME 3.90.2 or LAME 3.92? I'd appreciate any feedback on this issue.
Dibrom
Just use 3.90.2.

3.93 which should be out before too long (there's a few more things to do, and hopefully I can add some new presets) should have some fairly significant quality improvements in some spots due to bugfixes and stuff. Once it's properly tested and released, it should be the recommended version.

Hey Dibrom,

but what i wanna know is, whats the difference between 3.90.2 and 3.92 ?
cuz with all these types of version naming etc. it can work quite confusing..

cheers
Dibrom
You can see what has been changed here:

http://lame.sourceforge.net/history.html

3.90.2 is basically the same as 3.91

Basically, really nothing in relation to the alt-presets was changed in 3.92.

And due to some issues about compiler options, etc, I recommend using my 3.90.2 compile. It has been verified by myself to perform exactly as it should. I haven't really done the same thing with the 3.92 compiles most people are using. They should be fine, but if you want to be sure, use my compile.

I'll make sure that 3.93 is verified to work as it should before I recommend people using it.
