My old speakers (4.1 NGS, awful...) are dying right now, and I'm thinking about buying a new set. I can get de Logitech Z-5500 for 260€... Any recomendation pro/cons about this set or another set?

Edit: I have an Audigy 2 ZS

I have a set of Z-5500s. They're amazing. I use both analog and digital connections.....analog for music, digital for movies. Not sure if you know this, but the Z-5500s are now shipped without attached speaker wire. This means that you can attach longer, and better, wires to all of the speakers.

I would definitely recommend them if they are in your budget.

Klipsch Promedia's are moderately available.

what about teufel's concept e (magnum)? they are at 99,- and 149,-EUR, respectively. they lack digital input, though. but i heard they are quite good sound-wise.

The good thing about the Z-5500 is that I can buy them brand new for 260€, I don't know where to get de Klipsch that cheap...

I'm not very confident of the logitech's because despite all the good reviews all over de net, I've read some users reports talking about the lack of treble of this set. kockroach, can u confirm this please? And what about the quality of the integrated decoder?

They most definitely are. I am pretty sure the Magnum surpasses the Logitech sound quality wise by quite a margin. The Concept E series has seen a dramatic price drop. The Magnum started out at 379€ and was regarded cheap considerig its performance. Now at 149€ they're a steal.

Here's the deal with speakers: they makes sounds. What sounds good to "A" may not sound good to "B." So, go out and listen and compare speakers in your price range and decide upon that basis. Would you let someone else choose your mate for you?? Speakers are almost that personal. What sounds best to you is what you should buy. Think about it. cool.gif

www.teufel.de

since i don't know where you're located i assume you're somewhere in the eu. their site is in german only with "english coming soon". just try mailing info@teufel.de.

from the shopping basket form it looks like they ship anywhere since you can select quite a few countries from the list.
