Full Version: Replaygain + .shn - Can It Be Done?

I, for one, would appreciate this. Often, the only difference between many, otherwise outstanding, live recordings is the output level. The fact that Replay Gain is non-destructive is perfect, since editing is (rightfully) discouraged...

I don't know if this would mean re-writing shnamp (winamp plugin)...

I look forward to reading others' opinions on the matter. Thanks.

Of course it can be done. The question is how do you want to do it and who has the time to implement it smile.gif

There's DSP ReplayGain for Winamp: http://www.xs4all.nl/~walterln/replaygain/ It's independent of file format. If it can be played in Winamp, it will be replaygained.

So, this DSP plugin does not replaygain the actual audio file, only the output. Im I correct?
macdaddy
thanks-maybe it is time to step up to winamp3...
Speek
Yes Jenny, you are correct. This DSP plugin calculates the gain values the first time you play a file and saves the values in a database. The next time you play the file it knows how much gain should be applied.

...macdaddy answers his own question ;-)

remove all previous versions of wa3

download the following:

latest version (v. 488) of winamp 3
latest winamp 3 updates and general plugins

input plugins .shn >> shnamp (winamp3 plugin can be found here >>http://furthurnet.org/downloadarea/othertools.html
flacbundle (lossless) from rarewares

All plugins install by running the .exe, except for the flacbundle. Extract the contents somewhere and copy the in_flac.dll to the /wa3/ directory. set in wa3: options >> preferences >> wa2plugin manager >> install by opening the in_flac.dll

biggest surprises:
1-integrated replaygain (select and scan is great)
2-gaplesss that works w/ both flac and shn (no buffer tweaking needed)

I would like to know how to use shibatch's supereq and MarkZ's LCD plugin with wa3...

Where is the replaygain info stored? I can't find the external file. I notice that if you move the files, you lose the replaygain information. I was hoping to hand-edit...

What is the "spc" plugin?

Thanks for the help.
