Hello,
I've read alot about fb2k on this board but have a few questions which I can't seem to total feel like I know the correct answers too:
1. I have all my Flac files in one folder named “flac”organized by sub-folders of artist and album. It looks to me that I can add the top level folder “flac” via the add folder option under playlist pull down. What do I do a week from now when I add more albums (folders) into the main flac directory?? Does it automatically scan all the subfolders in the main flac folder when I start? I know I can re-add the folder, but then I get duplicates of everything and then I need to delete the duplicates. I know in winamp it will scan the main folder at a given interval, say every 2hrs or on start of program. Is it a manual operation where if I add a new album, I need to remember to go into the playlist and add the album. Seems like there should be a way to keep a master database that's always scanned. Seems like I'm going about this the wrong way or something. How should I approach this?
2. What is the “database” and how is this different from a playlist?
3. If I'm going to convert all my flac files to MP3, should I add replaygain first to the flac files or after I convert them to MP3? I'm leaning toward adding it to the flac files, since I'm ultimately going to use the Flac files for my stereo system via a media streamer some day.. The mp3's will go to a portable player. Any thoughts?
I've tried to find answers to these questions on the board but I am only understanding pieces of the “big picture' with fb2k. I have to be honest and say it's somewhat intimidating to a newbie!
Thanks for any help you can send my way!.....Joe
