Full Version: I can't get EAC to rip straight into FLAC
Hydrogenaudio Forums > Lossless Audio Compression > FLAC

I went to the compression menu and enable external encoder and selected .flac exe to be used after EAC finish ripping the CD.

My commandline is: --best %s -T title="%t" -T artist="%a" -T date="%Y" -T

As soon as EAC finish ripping the track from the CD, it activates the .flac exe file, but it quickly closes/crashes. What's going on? Thanks.

Try this:

-8 -T "artist=%a" -T "title=%t" -T "date=%y" %s

Wow, that did the trick...Thanks!

Just one last question, the -8 refers to level 8 compression which is the highest right?

Yes -8 is the same as --best, you can use either one.

I would recommend :

-T "artist=%a" -T "title=%t" -T "album=%g" -T "date=%y" -T "tracknumber=%n" -T "genre=%m" %s

This command line uses flac.exe's default compression level(-5). Using -8 will take about 4 times longer to encode and only give a neglible gain in compresion...

I don't mind because my PC is relatively modern, less than a year old, so I have the power to encode it. The space does add up. I don't mind the extra time and or resources.
