Full Version: Sorting by album artist in album list panel

For some strange reason, the code I have written to sort the album list panel by album artist rather than by artist doesn't work. It produces some very odd results indeed, in that it seems to sort by artist sometimes, even if %artist% isn't present in the code in any way... here's what I have:

CODE
$if3(%album artist%,%band%,%artist%)|%album%

Now, if my understanding of tagz is correct, this means "use album artist, but if it's not there, use band, but if that's not there either use artist". Am I correct in saying this? I had it working fine in 0.83, but now that I've installed 0.9 beta 10 everything's gone pear-shaped. Please help me out, I really can't see what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks in advance, people smile.gif

Check out the field remappings for 0.9 here to see what is going on.

That's rather annoying, I have to say... thanks for informing me though, 'tis working fine now.

It's only anoying if you well understand the operation of foobar2000 0.8.3. To new users of 0.9, or those who have been following the beta development, it is a fantastic feature. Next time i suggest you do a search and read the wiki, as this has now been covered in several threads.

I wouldn't say 'fantastic', it's a tad counter-intuitive if you ask me (which you didn't, but whatever). You shouldn't go calling something %album artist% if it's not really %album artist%, but some formula to work out what people think it should be. It would be a nice feature if the calculated values were called something different, or even if the users were given a way to change what the field re-mappings are.

And I did indeed search the forum and wiki, search features in general aren't particularly good in most cases, and produce an awful lot of unrelated waffle. I apologise for not trying harder.
