I-Love I-Tunes.I have an enormous pleasure listening music with this software, and so I would like to congratulate Jeff Robbin ( the lead software designer for I-Tunes and I-Pod), Bill Kincaid and Dave Heller for the development of SoundJam later purchased by Apple and named I-Tunes. Congratulations also to Steve Jobb for envisioning the future, inviting Jeff Robbin to work with him.

I have some suggestions for future versions:

1-Remove Dead Tracks Script
This is a very important tool and it is much hidden. For some users, it will be hard to find the script in Service and Support. I think the script shout make part of I- Tunes.

2-Genre pick-up list
Many of the buit-in genres are not used and can not be deleted, but the ones I create can. My suggestion is that the default genre pick-list should come empty or that be made something similar to Tag & Rename Genre List Editor, where you can select or not all default genres.

3-Filename not containing the Artist name.
Let´s say I need to extract from a Cd the following track: Steve Tyrell – Let’s fall in love, and encode it to MP3. Well, the file format created by I-Tunes will be Let’s fall in love, without the artist name. A folder with the artist name will be created, and a sub-folder with the Album name will also be created. If I burn a Data MP3 Cd for use in my portable cd player or in my car, or in my professional Pioneer CDJ-200 CD/MP3 player, I will be in troubles, because the name of the artist will never be displayed. I am sure many will say: Use EAC/Lame with the naming scheme %A - %T. The problem is that I need the composer tag, and Freedb does not supply it while Gracenote that comes with I-Tunes does. To work around this problem, I am renaming the files using Tag & Rename, moving all them to a main folder and deleting the folders created by I-Tunes. It would be good if users could choose the filename format. Audiograbber, for example gives the user the option to create the Artist and Album folders or not and choose the filename format.

4-Batch files renaming
It would be fantastic if I-Tunes could rename files in batch This would avoid jumping to Tag & Rename for example. As you know Artist, Album, Composer, Genre etc. can be tagged in batch using I-Tunes.

5-Playlist duplicate files
All tracks sent to a playlist should have a different color in the Library to alert the user, something like: This track is already in your playlist.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

It would probably be more useful to post your suggestions somewhere on Apple's message board...

I had alreasdy posted there. Do you think this Forum is not also a good place to discuss I-Tunes ?

Thanks for your post.

I happen to like iTunes as well but these forums are not the right forums if you want to make suggestions for future versions of iTunes. Your voice will be heard more if you suggest iTunes changes towards Apple. We can discuss what you want but it is really pointless as hardly anyone here can make changes to iTunes.

I just have to say this: iTunes!

Please, if you love iTunes so much call it by the right name.
It's iTunes NOT I-Tunes
It's iPod NOT I-Pod

I understood very well what you explained. I have one last question, please.

Do you see chances EAC to support Gracenote / Composer Tag.

Thank you also for your collaboration.

They might down the road. I remember EAC used to not offer a specific way of labeling track numbers. I am used to the iTunes labeling where a certain song is track number 2 of 12 songs. EAC just used to label a song as being track 2. Now it can label a track as number 2 of 12 songs.

It is possible. I imagine if a lot of people want it then the developers will add a Composer Tag in their software as they seem to be open for suggestions.

Gracenote is a service that has to be licensed for a fee. EAC uses the freeDB which is free for use by any application. I'm not sure about the composer tag but I doubt it is high on the list of future features for EAC.

it is highly unlikely that eac will ever include gracenote, as gracenote is a big-corperation that charges for their services, and i would presume would rather see an end to eac and it replaced by more corperate *wonders*. instead, software like eac, other user oriented apps, and even the open source types prefer to use freedb, as it is our response to the corperate buyout of gracenote...
