Brand new to this forum and foobar.. did a web search for a SHN converter, for some reason MKW wont install on my computer, and found a site that said Foobar can check SHN files for errors and also convert them to WAVs. Ive downloaded Foobar and installed it but cant seem to find these features

That depends on the version you got. The Shorten component is only included in the special installer for 0.8.3. If you want to use foobar2000 0.9 beta, you should get the Shorten decoder from my beta page (see URL in my signature).
