Does replaygain give accurate results in 6 channel (fl fr, c, lfe, fs, rs) audio file?

I'm asking because I get quite different results on my dvds - some of them give +0.37db on album gain, while some others give horrific results such as -14db or worse.

Can replaygain properly calculate the correct peak and gain for multichannel files, or does it just do an approximate count of all channels based on its implementation for stereo files (which do not have such as LFE stored as a wholly seperate channel).

Note however that out of the few rips I replaygained, I only got more then -10db for DVD-Audio rips, which are in 24bit 48khz 6chn. Does this kind of difference affect Replaygain in its calculations? Because I didn't notice such a horrible clipping on these rips even though I got as bad as -15db on a few tracks.
Either the clipping treshold is different here or Replaygain cannot properly calculate a proper gain for non-cd audio based audio formats. Both of these options seem quite unlikely for me.

I use Foobar2000 for the Replaygain calculations.
