I think this forum can provide uninterruptable headache to the record companies smile.gif
I mean not the forum itself but the knowledge it spreads (the more you know the more hardly you can be manipulated). rolleyes.gif
Anyways, below is my gradation of the most outstanding labels out there.

GOOD:
Mute (they raised Depeche Mode, Nicholas Cave, Add (N) To X... more then enough to be respected forever)
Warp (Squarepusher, Plaid, Aphex Twin...)
Kitty-Yo (Jimi Tenor, Gonzales, Peaches)
4AD (from Pixies to Gus Gus... living legend)
Anti (signing both Tom Waits and Tricky makes it remerkable IMHO)

EVIL:
Geffen (i think Nirvana and Sonic Youth signed their contracts with blood)
Polygram (they dumped Tricky, not pardonable) smile.gif
For complete list refer to Billboard charts (joke)

P.S
Disclaimer
If you have completely different music taste or i unintentionally offend your favorites, don't take it personally.
I'm far from blaming 'Evil' ones (because they are evil by nature) neither praising 'Good' ones.
Don't blame me only because this sentence sucks and whole post is full of pathos, it came out naturally. smile.gif

And one more thing i heard lots of the bands mentioned above almost not known in their native countries.
Pixies for instance sometimes were performing in front of only few people (David Bowie said once).
Would be interesting to know how well known Gonzalez and Peaches in Canada, Jimi Tenor in Finland, Nick Cave in Australia etc.
Emanuel
Also in the good-list:
Ninja Tune (one of the main companies for the electronic chill music)
Mole (Germany)
Jazzland Norway (Bugge Wesseltofts record company, holds himself, Beady Belle and many more)
Kaza (not to be mistaken for the file sharing app) (Sweden, has some really interesting artists)
Outcaste (Has the top world music artist Nitin Sawhney)
Sachankara
All record companies are evil in one way or another, but some are more... Avex trax is the most evil I know of... Everything they sell uses copy protection schemes these days... I sure as hell don't buy stuff from them anymore... Their loss... tongue.gif rolleyes.gif
