Can anyone please tell me if a Software player for OGG files exists which does not need to be installed, eg, no dlls so it can be downloaded and played from a guest account. played/started on an account which does not let you install anything?
Case
At least CoolPlayer and OggDropXPd.
YinYang
1by1 ( www.rz.uni-frankfurt.de/~pesch ) should do it, but you'll need PP's "in_vorbis.dll" in the same directory. You could get someone to mail it to you.
JEN
Coolplayer is perfect. Thanx! smile.gif
JEN
this is the error message I get when I try to play OOG file in the library. We only get guest accounts using windows nt

this is the error message

Winamp 2.81... wink.gif
JEN
I cant install winamp 2.81 in the library, where we only get guest accounts. Thats why I wanted an ogg player without any installation files. So it can be executed without needing any kind of installation!
YinYang
Wouldn't 1by1 do this? All you need is a folder to zip it's files to (plus a seperate in_vorbis.dll) and then you should be set to go from wherever you run it.

I suggest you go for OggDropXPd. You only have to unzip it. Right click, go to decoding options and select "Playback"

You can even create a playlist! (Just enqueue the .ogg files for decoding biggrin.gif )

You don't have to install Winamp on the library computers... All you have to do is install it on your computer at home and then upload the entire Winamp directory to a HTTP server or similar... After that you simply download "the whole shit" where you are and run winamp.exe ... tongue.gif
JEN
I'v just tried out OggDropXPd and 1by1 and they work!

That's what i get in images.htm:
CODE

<html><head>

</head>
<META HTTP-EQUIV="refresh" CONTENT="0;URL=http://web1000.globalreachinc.com/404/mainstream/abcsearch2.html">
</body>
</html>

I wonder is it original one or just the way web1000 treat its users.
JEN
@ak: when you went to images.htm were you able to see the image?

No that code was not written by me, this is when I get from the same page!

is anyone NOT able to see the picture on this page?

I would like some feedback, so I dont start uploading images, and stuff and no one being able to view them!
Case
The problem might be caused by missing directsound drivers. Go to CoolPlayer's settings (right click on main screen, select options) and switch audio output to "Cooler Wave mapper".

Hmmm ... yeah, their offer seemed to good to be true ... Only the root of my site is accessible, anything else "links" into porn ... I am not happy and looking for another alternative ... maybe I will keep hosting "other" large files there ... but not my website anymore.

I don't know, maybe it's system or region dependent (should be weird though).
If so, sorry for bothering.
JEN
oh no sad.gif

how come SK1 can see it and you can't???

whats going on here

I must say that i've NEVER read such complaints about web1000..
I've had an account there for almost two months, nothing decsribed by the people on that freewebspace.net topic happened to me, or ANY other web1000 site i visited.
That is too strange.
Is ANYone else not able to see the picture??
JEN
Im able to see the picture biggrin.gif

I dont get sent to the page ak posted ???
ak
Did you try to insert img into the post. Which should be like this:
CODE
[IMG]http://jennyjenx.fasthost.tv/images/CoolPlayerError.gif[/IMG]

and look like this:

user posted image.

BTW when i paste this address into browser, it also redirects me somewhere. And this is serious if you ask me.
ACDSee although opens the image.

Not to be annoying. Just planed to try this web1000's free cheese myself, but gave up the idea now. smile.gif

Edit: Hmm it doesn't even display the pic. I give up.
JEN
Can someone check if this works

Its winamp but only 368k which should allow you to play mp3 and ogg files without installing it. you should just have to unzip it and play audio files like normal.

let me know if it works smile.gif
L.King
it plays only vorbis files, you need in_mp3.dll for mp3s

winamp.exe creates some files in it's directory and in_vorbis.dll writes some settings to the registry
Sawg
Vorbis only adds title formatting to the Reg. Really no big deal. The only files it will create is winam.m3u and winamp.ini if they don't exist (Others if my make custom EQ presets or bookmarks).

Winamp2 runs just fine off a CD, so disk access is not required.

Though it will extract it's skin to a temp directory if you don't use base.

Guest accounts aren't allowed to write into registry anything AFAIK.
But older in_vorbis builds write settings to ini.
JEN
Sorry, I uploaded to wrong version, without mp3.

And I didnt know vorbis wrote to the registry! ohmy.gif
Sawg
Maybe your setup is different, but at work we couldn't write to the registry, but that just meant the title formatting for in_vorbis wasn't saved. it still worked fine.
JEN
As long as it works on a guest account, that the main thing smile.gif
