Full Version: AccurateRip says inaccurate?

I've started ripping CDs using burst T&C plus AccurateRip (after the discourse of this thread.

I haven't done too many yet, but one CD is giving me trouble. The AccurateRip report shows tracks 1-13 with only track 4 being successful and all others being inaccurate. One odd thing to note here is that there are actually 14 tracks on the CD, yet AccurateRip says that 0 tracks were not found.

So I re-ripped using secure mode T&C and got the exact same results... EAC CRCs continue to match but AccurateRip yields the same complaints.

So my question is: is AccurateRip to be trusted in this case?

The other option that I may explore is using another CD drive to rip to see what those results are.

Thanks,
Jason

Is it possible that you have an odd pressing of the disc, or that it is so damaged as even the TOC cannot be read correctly?
JCapriotti
Yeah, I forgot to mention that there are no major flaws with the disc. There are a couple of *extremely light* lines on the surface. I say "lines" because they aren't scratches, more of a mark. But it took me several minutes to find them so I find it hard to believe that would cause problems.

Don't think it would be an odd pressing either. I bought it soon after it came out so it should have been a normal pressing.

As the confidence is only 1 you cannot be sure that the other guy did not have a badly scratched cd...only the reverse is true (you can be quite sure that track 4 is correctly ripped).

What is track 14? how long is it?
Cosmo
"is AccurateRip to be trusted in this case?"

Why ignore the EAC CRC mismatches and only question AccurateRip?

Copy protection? Artist / Album?
JCapriotti
Thanks. That was kind of my guess too; I forgot to mention the confidence before.

Track 14 is 4:17 long. It seems to be a normal track... on this CD

It seems like I can just ignore the error for now. I can re-rip at a later date if I'm bored; its not my favorite CD anyway.

That kind of brings up a question though. Does AccurateRip keep track of all rips? If the rip AccurateRip is using for this CD is bad, once a few people submit their rip the original bad one would be cancelled out, right?

Sorry, my original post (now edited) had horrible wording regarding the EAC CRC results. The EAC CRCs match all the time.

(I've had two cups of coffee since that post)

Macy Gray / The Id.... I don't think it is copy protected.

Cosmo
Yeah, I wouldn't worry much about the AccurateRip results at this point since there was only one submission for comparison. As long as your EAC drive settings are correct (re: C2, caching), the matching T&C CRCs are much more confidence inspiring.

And yes, if two new results are submitted that match, the old/bad one will be removed.
