Okay, this is the deal, i am a big fan of asian cinema and often watch movies in cantonese, mandarin, japanese, korean etc. with subtitles. However, sometimes there are characters, for instance in a letter, which aren't translated in the subtitles.
Seeing that we have quite a few users from China on HA, i was wondering if someone could translate these characters for me, from two movies i recently watched:
1)

2)

3)

I can recognize some letters, but I'm unsure about the meanings.
1.
Later, meet, no, set time
Treasure, heavy
I think Treasure-heavy is somebody's name. Koreans would read it as: "hu hwe mu gi" "jin jung"
2. I can recognize the letters for person, bird, tortoise/turtle, king, and eight. "ja, jo, gu, wang, pal" The character for person is slightly different in Korea, and the character for tortoise is totally different in Japan.
3. Immortal(?)-exists-"earth-prison": The immortal is in hell? "seon jae ji-ok" The character for prison is written differently in an old fashioned way in Korea. In Korean, ji-ok means hell.
In the Korean transliteration above, a, e, i, o, u are roughly "continental." Eo is a bit like English "sun", and ae is a bit like French "sais". J is a bit like English j in "joke".

Making the image brighter let me recognize one more letter.
In the second image, the letter above the bottom-right one might be "trust", pronounced "shin" in Korea.
Here are my simple translation for those pictures:
1st pic, (The short sentence in the stone are read from top to bottom, same as second pic),
thier meaning is "Farewell"(4 words) and "take care"(2 words).
2nd pic, thier meanings are:
"for those who steal this letter is bastard, ha ha ha"
3rd pic is "live in hell".
my translation might not accurate because my english isnt good...
Thanks a lot, yong, that makes perfect sense in the context of the movies.
kjoonlee, interesting thing about those differences.
For those wondering, the movie in the first two images is Fire Dragon (Foh lung,
review) and the other one is the very entertaining Running On Karma (Daai chek liu,
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0374184/).

Running On Karma is a nice movie. It has the quality that is rarely seen for movies produced in HK...
