currently recommended version lame 3.97b link is missing because on rarewares lame3.97b1 is gone and lame 3.97b2 is there where as on the recommended link page may be it points towards the beta 1.

for 3.97b2 changes since 3.97b1 - go to:

essentially, the only quality change is a V5 ath adjustment.

i think it is safe to recommend 3.97b2
