I found this on the IPS Forums: http://media.putfile.com/WizardsofWinter-SM

The installation is made of 16,000 lights and 88 Light-O-Rama processors (sums to 25,000 USD) if I am not mistaken.

The music is from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and it's called Wizards Of Winter.

Hmm...am I the only one who always wonders, when seeing such things, "why, what for"?
Not only, IMHO, this has nothing to do with the idea of Christmas...thinking what it actually represents doesn't bring nice conclusions... dry.gif

Ofcourse there's a reason for that! It's called insurance fraud! biggrin.gif Basically you advertise to the local thieves that "We have money to waste", "Please come inside and take what ever you want"! "So we can claim from the insurance".

Now you probably wondering why oh why don't they just sell the stuff. The reason is simple, you dont get the full value back, which you probably do through insurance! wink.gif

I'm under the impression that it's a video sequence of stills, not an elaborate light control system.

Samuel Johnson, commenting on a different perceived lunacy, said it was like teaching a dog to walk on its hind legs. Yes, you can do it, but why would anybody want to?? cool.gif

Status:  True.

Hmmm. Perhaps if the video wasn't so crappy it would be more believable.

Why would you spend money on a light control system of that magnitude when you could build one for less than $100 using a pentium 233MHz driving triacs from the ISA bus? 16 bits of address space multiplied by 8 bits of data equals more switches than you'd know what to do with. And you could program it all with silly visual basic. What fun that would be. I should do it for a moment of internet stardom! smile.gif
