Over the last year I've been backing up all my albums to my HD. I record them onto the HD as a complete wav file + split the wav into tracks all with CoolEditPro. I then convert the wav tracks to .mp3's using Lame. Until recently I had been using Lame ver 3.92 to do this using the VBR(-alt preset standard) preset. When I check the resulting mp3's with encspot under the colum "ABR Bitrate" it shows "255 or More" for all the files. Recently I have upgraded the lame encoder to 3.97(Beta). I still convert the files with the -alt preset standard preset. When I check the files with encspot the values are consistant with the mp3's done with lame 3.92 except for the ABR Bitrate field. With the lame 3.97 the ABR Bitrate field shows a value of "32". I am not sure what the ABR bitrate signifies but I am curious as to why there would be such a difference and indeed what it means.
ABR stands for Average Bit Rate if I recall correctly. If Encspot returns an ABR of 32 kps for your files encoded with Lame 3.97 aps(or V2 --vbr-new) then it must be a bug on Encspot's side and nothing you should worry about.
