Hi there ...

Don't know whether this has been already asked or not so here's the situation:

I'm planning to put all my MP3 music (which is currently spread over 3 partitions) on a large single external HDD.

I want to use both Foobar2000 and iTunes as player software (call it a shoot-out if you like - WMP is out of question since my collection appears to be too large) and I want to be able to get my cover artwork displayed properly ... I have all the "folder.jpg" in their appropriate directories which are currently named as follows:

Albums & CD Singles:

First Letter\Artist\Year - Album\Track No. - Title

Compilations & Soundtracks:

First Letter\Year - Disc Title\Track No. - Artist - Title

I have been using the explorer extension Audio Shell 1.0 which allows me to create cover artwork in the ID3V2 tags manually which is a pain in the a** ... iTunes need this since it simply disregards the "folder.jpg" (Foobar with ColumnsUI doesn't - I know).

Basically, I'm on the lookout for some kind of tool that will automate this process.

Any suggestions ?

This little proggie searches amazon.com for cover art and will embed them into your ID3v2 tags

works w/ iTunes, but Foobar2000 will delete the cover art tags if you edit the tag using foobar

the program will also create a folder.jpg for Foobar2000

I do it like so

1. Rip & tag the cd in EAC
2. Replaygain in Foobar2000
3. Add cover art to the ID3v2 tags and folder.jpg
4. Then I use mp3infp to edit the tags if needed to prevent deletion of the cover art tags

You can try the current Development Build of Mp3tag.

Just create a new action "Import cover from file" at "Convert > Actions" using
CODE
folder.jpg
as format string for image filename.

Please test it on some files first, since it is a beta version.
