Full Version: What firewall/NAT script do you use

Right now I'm using firestarter, which leaves something to be desired. Also, I get the dreaded "An unknown error occurred" when starting firestarter, which is something that I think should stay in the world of windows.

I've found these:

There's Arno's script http://rocky.eld.leidenuniv.nl/

There's Bob Sully's script http://www.malibyte.net/iptables/scripts/fwscripts.html

There's even a script generator http://easyfwgen.morizot.net/gen/index.php

Then there's a big list with too many choices http://www.linuxguruz.com/iptables/

What do you say?

I used to use shorewall once ( http://www.shorewall.net ), pretty easy to setup. You can dig up some commonly used templates and customize from there.

Thanks. I finally got it working. The docs are slightly contradictory with reality at times. If anyone reading this wants to try shorewall the sample files, which help cut to the chase, are here:

The deb that I installed didn't seem to have them. I also couldn't find any link to them in the docs on the website.
