Any way to adjust LAME so that it runs at Normal base priority under Windows rather than the default Low priority, other than resetting it under Task Manager for each track?

I tried the --priority switch in the LAME command line settings just for SnG's, but as it is intended for use under OS/2, it has no effect in Windows.

just add
CODE
--priority x
to your command line
x=4 will give you high priority

Hmmm...I tried adding --priority 2 (Regular) to the command line and it still runs at Low priority. I have an older computer that would die if I ran it at High priority...

BTW- I'm running the latest LAME 3.98 Alpha 2 under RazorLame. Could that be an issue?

well, implementation and documentation don't match here. It's 3 you'll have to set for normal priority. Will fix that later...

Very good, Robert. Thanks for addressing!

default Low priority

Maybe RazorLame is setting this low priority? I'm sure processes usually run at normal. Maybe setting the switch via LAME itself is overridden by RazorLame.

HI,

IIRC, LAME will retain the windows base priority of the parent process (ie the caller of lame).

Ex: If EAC is set to be low priority, than lame will have low priority (suppose you are riping CD to MP3 of course...).

Ciao!
