Just post here and I'll PM you, or drop me an e-mail at everafter@tlen.pl .

I've got some interesting information in exchange, but I don't want to upset the mods around.

ok.. I'll bite..

There's nothing wrong about posting that info here. There's been discussions how to swap firmware on soundcards and discussions how to crossflash optical drives.

If you say so, but I've posted a thread like this in the Prodigy 7.1 <-> Aureon days and it got deleted promptly with a couple harsh comments.

Ok, so here's the deal.

You may have heard about the ESI Juli@. Well, the Audiophile 192 is a rip off the Juli@. It might look different at first sight, but the components used and the schematic - they're mostly the same.
The point is, Audiophile owners can use the Juli@ drivers and vice versa. What for, you might ask? Well, both drivers have some nice features:

Juli@:
-DirectWIRE (some examples here: http://audiotrak.net/advancednsp_tutorial1.htm )

Audiophile 192:
-ProTools M-Powered
-x64 support.

I can write a guide on how you can switch between Juli@ and Audiophile firmwares back and forth (it's also safe), to play around with the features, but I need to have the EEPROM contents from an Audiophile 192.
The EEPROM dumping procedure is safe, relatively simple, and described below.

Here's the procedure:

Some BIOSes have an option called "PNP OS Installed" or something similar. If yours does have it, you must set it to "NO", or the EEPROM will not get read correctly. This is the recommended setting anyway.
Make sure the Audiophile is the only Envy24xx based card in the system.

Now there are two approaches, the 1st one is better, but requires a floppy drive (not everybody has one these days). The 2nd approach can be used with a CD/DVD-RW drive.

1. Download this zip file:

http://www.savefile.com/files/9344403

And run the file inside. It will write a bootable image with the needed tools to a floppy.
After writing the image, reboot and allow the system to boot from the floppy (make sure the BIOS is set to boot from the floppy).
A menu will appear. Choose "Dump the Audiophile EEPROM to file.", wait a while, and a table with EEPROM contents should appear on the screen.

You can now boot back to your regular OS. dump.txt on the floppy contains the EEPROM dump I need.

2. Download this file:

http://www.savefile.com/files/7482802

And burn the image inside to a CD (CD-RW probably...)
Reboot the system off the CD (make sure the BIOS is set to boot from the CD) and choose "Dump the Audiophile EEPROM to screen.".
Wait a while and a table with the EEPROM contents will appear. You need to write down the two rows of the table. That's the EEPROM dump. Just make sure to get all the numbers correct (don't bother writing down the entire table, just the contents of the two rows).

heh. Actually I just wrote a driver+GUI for dumping that EEPROM under Windows. Writing will come soon.

Makes this whole thing a bit simpler, and doesn't require any BIOS tampering.

(I'm actually starting to write a WDM Audio driver for the Envys. But that'll take a while.)

The driver is made as an audio driver because that's what it's supposed to become some day.

It's been tested on one PC so far. Reading won't hurt anything. If writing fails, you can fix the badly written EEPROM using the DOS tools above.

Run install.bat before use (you may need to remove your sound card driver and reboot first).

The program uses the first Envy24xx based device it'll find, whichever that'll be. So if you have more than one envy based card in the system, you should remove all but one to be certain which one is being programmed.

After use, run remove.bat, and reboot the system. You will need to reinstall your sound card driver.

This package contains both x64 and x86 builds of the tool.

So anyone willing to test reading on an Audiophile 192?

I have a 192, been having some driver problems too... might have to try this out, do you still need anything?

New valid link:

Though, my Juli@ did not work perfectly when I tried the audiophile firmware in windows x64 os.
But I did not verify anything, may have done something wrong.

Someone got this working?
With what system, x64 or x86?
