Is there a way to increase the "loudness" of a .wav file? I don't want to normalize the .wav, simply uniformly boost the volume.

Any recommendations? I looked into wavegain, but this seems to do more than simply bossting the volume.

Thanks.

yes it will ermm "boost" the volume. same thing if you use programs like soundforge or audacity, simply increase the gain. now if you wanna be more classy you could use third party plugins like L3 which is specifically designed to squash the shit from your wave files, increase the gain clean while applying peak limiting so that you won't clip your project when you increase the gain. but just to boost i would say go for audacity or wavegain and don't forget to dither smile.gif

May not be the most elegant way, but you could use WaveGain:
  • Run WaveGain against the wave file in calculation mode, noting the recommended gain,
  • In the case of a negative recommended gain, apply a positive manual gain of that amount (obviously it's the opposite for a positive recommended gain) plus the amount that you wish to boost by,
  • Result = original sound level plus the amount you boosted it by.
