Hi all,

I'm trying to record dolby digital 5.1 from a set top box using the optical in of my Abit AN7 (ALC658), but I'm getting a crappy AC3 out of it - has audible glitches and is only playable with VLC (am using besplit as well). Doesn't seem to matter what software I use to record it. I can record PCM through it just fine.

I would like to know whether the ALC658 spdif input is bit-perfect at 16/48khz?
Any clues as to what might be causing the glitches? Do drivers matter?
