I have an old machine I rebuilt with XPpro dedicated to ripping.

Lite-On LTR-52327S
LG CRD-8400B
EAC 0.95b3
LAME 3.97b
MAREO 2.2.0
FLAC 1.1.2a
AccurateRip

It has 2 drives: Lite-On LTR-52327S, which I have had for a long time and ripped my collection multiple times, and an LG CRD-8400B (new to me). EAC claims that the LG is the better choice for ripping according to its database of parameters, which I accepted without additional testing.

The LG AccurateRip configured with Acoutsic Alchemy "Arcanum," the LiteOn with Acoustic Alchemy "Back On The Case." Both only took a single keydisk to configure.

I ripped Back On The Case on both drives:
LG - Track 1 not accurate (confidence 3)
Track 2-10 accurate (confidence 3)
Lite-On Track 1-10 accurate (confidence 3)

The Arcanum disk:
LG - Track 1 & 12 not accurate (confidence 1)
I finally got track 12 to be accurate with the LG, but not the first track.
Lite-On Track 1-12 accurate (confidence 1)

1. Why would the only first track be bad on the LG and not on the LiteOn?
2. I have ripped these disks before (BackOnTheCase multiple times) with the LiteOn. Is it possible that the confidence disks are my own rips? If so, it it then possible that the LiteOn is consistently wrong on the first track of each disk and the LG is really correct?

Note: I just read a thread on AR forum about GUID identifying the rip. Since the "Back On The Case" CD was ripped on at least 2 different machines, possibly 3 different installations, I am guessing my rips are the confidence measure. So, again, what would be correct?

More info:
I ripped Eric Clapton - Clapton Chronicles and I had to rip the first track with the LiteOn to get it to be accurate according to AR.

For disks not in the AR database, that have many other disks for confidence (unlike the ones above), how do I know which drive, if any, is correct? Gillian Welch - Time (The Revelator) is not in the db, so I'm at a loss to know which rip of track 1 is accurate?

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Brant

Sorry for cross posting to EAC, AR, and HydrogenAudio forums. I have no responses in the others.
