Full Version: tag editing and playback problems?

I am wondering if anyone can tell me the best tag editing program to use for files such as those in ape and mpc format. I recently tried using a program called Abander tag control, to enter artist and album and song info. The program seems pretty good, but I experienced some problems playing the files afterwards with Foobar. I don't know if this is just coincidence and the files had problems to begin with. Some of the files were in APE format and the others in MPC. With the MPC files I experienced freeze ups when transitioning from one track to another. Instead of going on to play the next track, the application simply stopped dead. I would have to manually click on the next song in order to get it to play. With the APE files, I get an "invalid checksum" during the transition between tracks and often there is a buzzing sound before the next track begins. Could Abander tag control be responsible for these problems or is it just a coincidence? Any advice about tag editing apps and about why foobar is having trouble moving automatically from one song to the next with these files would be appreciated. I've never had this happen to me except with these files whose tags I edited, which is why I've been wondering if that caused a problem.
Thanks for your help.

If you are using foobar to play files why not use it to tag?

Right-click on a file, choose "Properties...", and then add or amend your tags at will.

To tag en masse use Masstagger (context menu is different in 0.8.3 and 0.9, but you'll find it if you look).
