Greetings.
Well, two days ago I dumped my system and reinstalled everything (WinXp). Previously I used beta 10 or Foobar 8.1 which always worked fine. To simplify the things I'll just talk about one specific ape file but nevertheless I could probably find more which now refuse to be played. Foobar reports:
Unable to read info from file:

"X.ape" (0) - Unsupported format or corrupted file

which cannot be true (unless my harddrive is defect).

You might wanna know that I'm able to decode the file with Monkey's Tools. Was there something changed in foobar? Afaik foobar doesn't use system libraries but components so the problem not being able to play the files can be reduced to foobar and it's libraries itself. I guess before I formated the partition on which foobar resided I didn't have any components which recognized the files and made them playable, afaik *.ape input is now being inbuilt. So, is there anything you need to know to track this down?

The plugin is not maintained anymore
QUOTE(Foobar Beta unsupported components page)
This component has known stability issues (random crashes during decoding). Since problematic library appears to be no longer maintained, we recommend using another lossless format instead.
Synthetic Soul
APE input has never been inbuilt.

foobar 0.9 now has inbuilt support from some lossless formats, but not APE, for the reasons mentioned above.

You can download the 0.9 component here, or the 0.8.3 component (foo_ape) here.

Take a look at this thread, especially post 11, for more information.

Thanks.
Should have read more carefully.

BTW: Here Foobar never produced crashes due to ape files.
