Hey guys, this is my first post so please be easy on me. I've been following the forum for the past few weeks now and I must say, you guys (and gals?) seem to really be on top it. Anyway, on to my newbie question. I recently downloaded Burrrn to make compliation audio CD's using songs downloaded from various websites. Most of the songs are in .mpc format. Anyway, I've educated myself on Replaygain and want to use it to level (i.e., make songs sound equally loud) the volume on a CD using track mode.

My question, and this is very basic, is how do you do this in Burrrn. I see that one can select Replaygain in the main window (by clicking on the box at the bottom). The message says it uses Wavegain, which I understand applies the volume adjustment on the temporary wave files before burning onto the CD. Just to make sure, this process will not affect the orginal .mpc files correct?

Anyway, the confusion comes with the fact that there is another replaygain option in the Settings menu. There is a replaygain option that can be set there as well, and in this case one can adjust the db up or down? Is this a separate option from the replaygain box in the main window? Do both replaygain options have to be selected or just one? Will the Replaygain option in the Settings menu affect the original .mpc file? If these are in fact different, does replaygain work on .mpc files directly?

Finally, I assume the db setting allows one to apply Replaygain on files and use something other than the default 89db correct? Would one recommend increasing the db setting? Does it work well? I would like to do this sense as we all know, replaygain seems to make the volume on CD's unusually low.

Thanks for your help; I look forward to your responses.

Just check the box in the main window and select track or album in the list box. Your original files are left unaffected. The replaygain tab under settings is just for tweaking; i.e., you don't have to change anything to use it. I like to up the track gain by 1.5 and leave the album gain at default.
