Actually I can find the draft specification for SV8. What I'm looking for is the specification of SV7. I definitely know it's there because I've read it once.

There's no well-written spec available AFAIK. There's a very rough and short text file with the sources describing how things are done. Coupled with the decoder source this has to serve as the specification.
