Can mp3gain make out what songs consist an album and apply mp3gain only to every seperate album?

Meaning; I add two albums Burnt Offerings and Twilight of the Gods. I do Album Analysis. If I press Apply Album Gain will each of the albums have the mp3gain it is supposed to have or the album gain will be applied to all of the songs in the file list of MP3Gain?

I'm asking 'cause it would be handy just to add the whole dir of my mp3s, do album analysis and then just apply album gain without having to do this with every single album...

Mp3gain don't read the tags in files, so for album gain you must have 1 directory for every album.
You can also use nested subfolder.

If by the whole dir you mean you have your mp3 library set up like this:

library dir / artist / album / track then yes, it should work like a charm (with 1.2.5, the lastest stable bundle from sourceforge anyway).

I analyzed about 40 albums by copying them all over at once (no where near my entire collection) but I haven't decided to apply it yet. But it did come up with album values properly in the album gain column. You should just be able to add your main dir using the add folder button and, voila. I just checked it and it added them properly.

Ok sth else. At the last song comes up a box saying there's an error and the analysis doesn't continue. What's wrong with the file? I cannot make out what's wrong....

And yes ethanw, that's exactly my mp3 structure. So it will work. Thank you

For this specific topic, i find foobar2000 replaygain perfect.

Add the directories you want to a playlist. select everything, replaygain-scan selection as albums ( it has two modes, "by tags" and "by directories").

Voilą, done!
