Full Version: foo_whatson - What's On, Yahoo!, MSN, Google Talk

What it does: It just tell's your chat client, MSN or Yahoo! or Google Talk, what song you're listening to so you're online friends can see. Pretty useless if you don't use any of those because Gaim, Miranda, and Trillian don't work yet.
I plan to make each client able to be selected, and some other thinks like custom output for Google Talk and Yahoo!. The source code still has alot of hardcoded things left over from when I was just trying to get things to work, I'm going to clean it and put it in the archive.

So please, try it out. I tested it with Yahoo! 7.5.0.333 Beta, MSN 7.5, and Google Talk 1.0.0.86. Requires MSVCR80.dll but you probably have it. Comment. Complain.
Happy Valentines Day!

Google Talk Code Help: customizetalk.com.

foo_whatson v1.0.1 Build 1.7z
foo_whatson v1.0.1 Source.7z
Update: Fixed foreign characters in Yahoo! and Google Talk, and enabled options.

Bravo man...I wait for support for Miranda, as the current WinampNotify plugin sometimes bugs out, although I think foo_winamp_spam is the culprit.

Is this AMIP for dummies?

Any chance I can get the source for this? I'd be interested in knowing how the Yahoo and GTalk components actually work. MSN I already know. smile.gif

Not really, you need to know a bit about the plugin. Also: My apologies to the OP for being rude in my first post.

If this will go to Gaim I'd be super mega happy kawai ^_____________^

Eww... Yuck. I though that it would be something more interesting than faking clicks and types into controls and such. I was kinda hoping they had an actual interface and correct way to do that sort of thing, more like MSN does (only smarter, since it is, after all, Google). I mean, selecting controls and such works, but seems like poor form since it won't last between interface changes.

Oh well. Thanks anyway!

Hmmmm.....doesnt work with my 0.9 beta 13......

Failed to load DLL: foo_whatson.dll
Reason: The specified module could not be found.

And is this exactly the same as Foo_msn????? (which also doesnt work for betas........).....

Anyone have something that actually works with beta versions? Would love to make this work with my ugly messenger 7.5..........lol
digThisXL
Works fine here.

Gotta remember the SDK for 0.9+ has not been released. This component works with 0.8.x only.

One question though:

When listening to internet radio such as sky.fm, foobar shows the artist & title nicely in the application window title. However, in MSN, it shows "sky.fm - your interenet radio..." something or the other. No artist/title. Any ideas?
digThisXL
Weird, AMIP announces artist/title correctly.
slinger1182
The plugin doesnt seem to be working correctly for Yahoo!. It just throws up random songs as the status message which are not the songs which I am playing at that moment. I did enter my registry for the Yahoo! option. COuld you correct that please? Other than that works fine for the other messengers.

Are you using the latest Windows Live Messenger 8.0.0566 Beta? I think they changed something in it. So just put %artist% - %title% in the {1} option. It'll put a "-" before the artist but that should be fine. Works for me anyway that way.
