Hi,

I am new to this forum and realy like to read and learn from all of you here!!
Need advise for splitting long files like when recording an LP in one wav file.

Also need knowledge to set track markers on "live" recordings so you still get
the continue when listening (whitout silent passage) beforde create CD.

Right now I use an Acer Laptop to doing the job and included as burner software
NTI CD DVD maker 6.5 gold. I use my harman kardon cd burner in my stereo to make an CDR and then have this as an "raw" master when trasfering
from cassettes and LPīs and the extract the CDR in my laptop to do the changes I need to do as removing hiss pops etc. Working like this I belive that I donīt need to
worry about soundcards etc as if I should record direct to my laptop.

When working whit the sound I am using an extern soundcard and hook up my
Laptop to my stereo equipment.

Is this a good way to work or have you other suggestions?

Thera is an ongoing discussion how to rip a cd I use the best settings when extracting CDīs, is it so that this is not working perfekt? Should one always use
EAC, I have tried it but it takes very long time.....If NTI is not good enough, what do you experts recommend?

Thanks

I do the following:

I leave the .wav file as is and make a .cue sheet in notepad. See wikipedia.org for more info. Next, you can open the cue sheet in foobar2000, and this player will then "see" the songs seperately. Using the convert option in foobar, you can convert the songs to any format you like (wav, flac, mp3..).

Using a program like Goldwave or Wave Repair you can load the WAVE file into a visual WAVE editor and place track marks precisely. You then save these marks as a cuesheet.

You can then use this cuesheet to burn to audio CD, or with an application like foobar or ACDIR to split the WAVE into track files, and even encode at the same time.

RE: Recording LP as one WAV: my only suggestion is to try searching the forums for "vinyl".
