Full Version: Can't make EAC compress into Ogg

I have been using EAC to extract audio and CD-EX to convert said audio into Ogg, with good results. However, for the convenience of not having to switch programs, I have attempted to configure EAC to compress into Ogg.

Here is how I have it set up:

I have checked "use external program for compression."

I have the path set up to the folder that contains oggenc2.exe

I have this in additional command line options:

-q 5 -a "%a" -t "%t" -l "%g" -d "%y" -N "%n" -G "%m" %s -o %d

I have "delete WAV after compression" checked.

I have bit rate set up as "5 (medium)"

I insert a CD into my drive, ask it to extract compressed audio to the folder where I want it to go, and as it extracts the audio, a DOS window pops up occasionally but it pops up and disappears so fast that I can't tell what it says. EAC will finish extracting audio from the CD and a little dialog at the bottom of the window will count down the compression tasks remaining to zero.

However, when I go to the folder where the compressed audio is supposed to be, the WAV files are still there and there are no compressed files there or anywhere else.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance for any help.

http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?ti..._and_Ogg_Vorbis double check and make sure you have followed the guide correctly. You might want to change the command-line parmeters and not use any Vorbis comments tags at all to see if that might be the potential problem. I really don't use EAC so I can't help you, but that's what I would say at least. It's so much easier to use the command-line standalone or dynamic link library to do it for you rather then configuring the GUI with encoder laugh.gif

I figured it out, I had missed something in some of the Web sites I checked for info on setting up EAC for Ogg, I had "Ogg Vorbis" entered in the slot for "Parameter Passing Scheme" (whatever that is tongue.gif ), when it was supposed to be "User Defined Encoder" and then you manually have to enter ".ogg" in the "use file extension" slot. Once I did that, it works like a dream and the Ogg files it creates appear to be as they should be. Most of the Web sites I checked recommend quality 6 when setting EAC for Ogg, but I set it up for 5, that's 160 kbps equivalent and with Ogg that's fine at least to my ears and gives me the right balance of sound/size. Anyway, thanks for the response!
