Is there a newer/better AAC plug-in for the Linux player XMMS than the one that Audiocoding.com links to (and calls it "outdated")?

http://aacplugin.sourceforge.net/

Or maybe there is a solution for *.mp4 audio files and XMMS already? I would like to know this, because our drummer is one of these "Linux-only" guys... rolleyes.gif

hi man ! you should find a new version of the plugin at : http://fondriest.frederic.free.fr/realisat.../aacplugin.html

i just update the plugin to version 0.2
the plugin is not really finished (i'm working on.) it's need some testing and feedback.

On my linux system it's working well but some old faac file crash at the end.. i think it's provided by
faad2-1.1.

for any question please send me mail smile.gif

Now that was fast! smile.gif OK thanks, I'll link to your site from my homepage, so he can grab whatever he may need there. I hope his French is still sufficient... wink.gif

From what I understand he would also need the sources for FAAD2, right? Why is that - generating more fun for Linuxers compiling everything on their on or what? wink.gif

In which way is it better than the old one that AudioCoding.com links to?

and better than the old one because it's uptodate and working with faad2-1.1 that aviable from
the download page of audiocoding smile.gif and use autoconf/automake and libtool to build it !!

I understand, so this also means that XMMS will also be able to play *.mp4 audio files with your plugin? And maybe it can do the same conversion "trick" from *.aac to *.mp4 files like the FAAD2 in_mp4.dll for Winamp?

Yes, I saw your posting in the Audiocoding.com Forum in the meantime, too... wink.gif

I was only joking... wink.gif I think everyone will understand your page and where he has to click to get what he wants. But maybe you could provide the direct URL to the source code of FAAD2 - or is this not possible, because it often changes, perhaps?

No problem, I will probably wait with new encodings of our demo tapes until the release of a AAC+ encoder anyhow. But it is nice to know that XMMS will play even *.mp4 files in the future. smile.gif
