Full Version: I can't manage to "Copy Image & Create CUE Sheet"

Hello

I have a CD that's not in a good condion (still playing though), so I wanted to make a new copy of it.
I tried the "Action -> Copy Image & Create CUE Sheet" command in EAC, but for some reason it doesn't do anything, it only makes the EAC window flicker for a split second.

When I try to rip each track individually, it works. But I want to create a one-file copy of my CD with a CUE sheet.

Any ideas?

I think, you have special characters in Title or Performer of the album. If you remove them, it should work.
Or update to 0.95b4, where it should be fixed
Synthetic Soul
Agreed. A colon or forward slash are known to do this. There may be other characters.

I can also confirm that 0.95b4 fixes this.

Thanks tongue.gif
I downloaded version b4 and it's working...

Does the fact that this version doesn't support TOC mean that you won't be able to rip some CD's with it?

I am having the same problem as the original poster, but I don't have any unusual symbols. It was recording fine as an image wavefile. Then, I changed a number in the compression options, and suddenly it would not record a cd as an image, only as single tracks (but it will record all of them at once). I changed the number back (it shouldn't have anything to do with it, anyway), but it still only records single tracks. I have restarted computer several times to no avail. I am going to try the new copy of EAC.

Have you tried a different CD?

What do you mean by "only as single tracks (but it will record all of them at once)"?

Are you ripping to wave or some other format? If another format, which one? Are you using the dropdown list to select a DLL, or are you using an EXE from the External Compression tab?

If this is still happening, and you have tried various CDs, I can only think that maybe you have corrupted some value in th registry or a .cfg file - but that is just a wild shot in the dark. Installing b4 will not reset your registry values or change your .cfg files; you would need to remove/move them manually. However, as I say, this is a real shot in the dark anyway, so look to other options first.

NB: I am assuming that nothing happens when you choose to rip to image, as you stated that the symptoms are the same as the OP.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I don't know much about CD-ripping, so I don't understand all your questions, but this is what I can tell you. I am ripping to wave files. I installed the newest version of EAC. It ripped to image files CDs whose contents it would previously would rip only as individual tracks (this is what I meant by "it will record them only as single tracks (but it will record all of them at once)). I'm not up on the lingo.

However, today when I try to rip a CD as an image, it will not do it. It will rip as single tracks (by "all at once" in my previous post I meant that it doesn't rip one, then stop, then I have to ask it to rip #2, etc.; rather, it rips them all, but each track is an individual wave file). I inserted two other CDs (one of which I've already ripped as an image file, one which previously would only rip as multiple (?) tracks (i.e., individual wave files), and both can be copied as image files. So I don't know why this one won't do it.

How does one tell if a CD is copy-protected?

You stated: NB: I am assuming that nothing happens when you choose to rip to image, as you stated that the symptoms are the same as the OP. My reply: Yes, that is correct.

Thanks very much for your replies. You certainly help a lot of people out. smile.gif

Thanks for your comprehensive response.

So, it seems it is down to the individual CD.

I know you say that the CD contains no weird characters, but can you please details the values in both the CD Title and CD Artist fields for us?

Also, I'm a little confused about the version you are using. You said "I am going to try the new copy of EAC", and then when redescribing your issue, "I installed the newest version of EAC". I can't work out now whether you installed b4 before this all started, have since installed it and it's still happening, or have yet to try it.

With regard to copy protection: I'm afraid that's not my forté. If it does have copy protection it should be detailed on the case/inlay.

I don't know of any other reason for the dialogue to not appear other than the weird character issue in 0.95b3 and earlier... which is of course not to say there isn't one. If you can list the CD Title and CD Artist values I can test myself though.
