I don't have experience with any of the others, but avoid any Sonys under the V6 (or MDR-7506).

Edit: What type of drivers do the Pioneers and Technics use?

You may find the biggest difference between closed and open 'phones.
My personal preference is for the open ones - but only if I don't have external noise that'd bother me (like in a subway, or in a dorm-room, say with a room mate listening to TV) and if I didn't care about other folks being able to hear what I was listening to.

Is there a store (or stores) you can go to to listen to these? IMHO buying audio gear over the internet when you don't know exactly what you want is pretty risky. You need to not only see how they sound, but whether they make your ears hurt after an hour or two. No way to tell that from specs.

Oh - and if there are stores that sell musical equipment, maybe try there, too. they sometimes have studio monitors (AFAIK these are all closed phones so above comments apply).

Well, i dont know the type of drivers of the pioneer and technics. I have some friends who have the technics and are happy with them, but the other headphones have specs that makes my decision very hard. Unfortunately i dont know any stores where they can let us ear and try those headphones, so i will have to rely on your opinions. thanks a lot foir you guys that responded, and keep more opinions coming please! smile.gif

Never rely on manufacturer's specs to influence a choice in headphones. Try looking for reviews on Head-Fi or a website like Headroom.
