Please excuse this noob....

Could someone clarify the meaning of the following LAME setting:
-V 2 --vbr-new --id3v2-only --pad-id3v2 --ta "%a" --tt "%t" --tl "%g" --ty "%y" --tn "%n" %s %d

The reason I ask is that when ripping/encoding using EAC,LAME (3.97b2) i seem to be getting two versions of the id3v2 tag, one appended after another. I am using J. River Media Center and the duplicate tags cause a problem. If I modifying the tags (using another applications, MP3tag or ID3-tagit...), it does so to only one set of ID3V2 tags.
And MC gets confused....

any help would be appreciated.
cheers!

It adds 4kb of "padding" so that tag updates do not result in re-rewriting the file. It sounds like MC is adding a different id3v2 version tag.

Actually, i wonder if it's the fact that in EAC i checked off "Additionally write ID3V2 tags, using padding of 4kB". Perhaps the combination of these two causes the problem...

Yes.

Actually, according to the --longhelp option, it only adds 128 bytes of extra padding.
