Full Version: 0.9 mass renamer feature request

Foobar 0.9 has new options in mass renamer (copy/move entire parent directory), but would it be possible to add one more: rename and move/copy the music files and move/copy the rest non-music files, preserving filenames and structure (may be configurable, which extensions to include). That would be good for album art images, now i'm forced to copy manually.

Thanks,
Peter

Bump... Any update on this?

I've been asking for this feature for a while. I don't know if theres interest in implementing it.

While I too would be greatly interested in this, there's one problem: when dealing with tracks from different albums that are in the same folder, how do you decide which folder to move the files into?

All of them? ie. Copy the files?

Use explorer to do this?

Just don't move them in that case, or move them to whever the last track goes. It doesn't really matter. The idea is to let you move album.jpgs and maybe text files. Obviously, if you have all your stuff in one folder, you're not going to need this function.

Thats the slowest way to do it. Right now, running the rename tool twice (once to create directories and move music, and second to move album art) is faster. Doing both in one step would be ideal.

Actually, a really nice way to solve the above issue would be to just make file rename operations scriptable like tag updates. Then people could string together whatever order of events they liked.
