Full Version: Bug with an MP3 file, plays with 0.8 not 0.9

At the beginning of some MP3 (3 from the same album, ripped with FB2K), the sound is only noise. With the visualisation I only see bars when the plyback is "broken".

The wavepack and ogg vorbis, converted from lossless, plays fine, plays fine too in 0.8 and WMP

I can PM you the most broken file.
(Rufus Wainwright - Want Two - 01 - Agnus Dei.mp3)

EDIT:
- i wanted to cut the file with muiscutter, but the cuted file plays ok.
- i have conveted the file from Wv to MP3 2 times with or without RG, both files doesn't plays ok

Thanks,
François

Hello François,

Did you try foobar2000's Fix MP3 header function? Maybe it will resolve your problem.

Also, what mp3 encoder do you use, and what parameters?

Peace,
Tristan.

I'm really confused, today (after a reboot), the file plys fine.

With the same file the replaygain was around +99 yesterday and today, after a rescan, -7. More over yesterday the playback was ""broken"" with RC2 and b13 and I saw bars in the beginning of the file with the visualisation from columns ui.

Anyway, I will upload the file.

File encoded with Lame 3.97b (or maybe 3.97a)
Soundcard; audigy 2 with latest drivers
Windows XP sp2

Very strange, I can't really help you.

Sounds like a hardware problem to me, or a really obscure bug (but the fact that noone else reported this yet would suggest the former). If the file plays correctly after a reboot, it's highly unlikely that I will be able to get any useful info out of it so you can skip uploading it for now.

ok,
I will try to inform you if this strange behaviour reproduces.

Very weird.
