I'm looking for a software which would read ac3 file and show me the peak of all channels
I can do this using headac3he - decode to 5 wav files and then open them in soundforge for example
but this process eats a lot of hd space...

any ideas?

How about loading an AC3 file into fb2k and doing a RG scan? You can take a peek into track/album-peak then, I'm just not sure if these values represent peaks from before or after applying RG...
