Sorry if this is a newbie question.
I was browsing through the forums and noticed that Wavgain, which I was about to use, is lossy. My objective is to use EAC to rip the wav files, and then use Mareo to send those files to FLAC and then to OGG. If I am going to put a gain program into Mareo, it might as well be lossless since it is going into FLAC. I think.
Does such a tool exist? Thanks!

Try VorbisGain for that.

Adding gain is never lossless, but you can always add wavegain, which will be pretty damn close to as good as you can get

Peace,

Is it?
I thought changes made by mp3gain and vorbisgain are reversible...?

Not sure about mp3gain, but if vorbisgain is the same as replaygain, it is only a tag in the file, which can obviously be removed or simply ignored by a proper player. All of my FLAC collection is replay gained, audio itself is not affected.

Exactly.
That's why I thought mp3gain and vorbisgain are lossless.

Ok, if I decide to use replaygain, I put the tag in MAREO, correct? Is there anything else besides --replay-gain I should put in?
Also, I would appreciate a pointer on where to look for how to set up Vorbisgain in mareo.
Thanks all!!

Try this example from my mareo.ini
CODE
FULLNAME = D:\My Music\Vorbis\@artist@ - @album@\@track@ - @title@.ogg
ENCODER = C:\encoders\oggenc2.exe
PARAMETERS = -q 4 "@source@" -o "@dest@" -a "@artist@" -l "@album@" -t "@title@" -N "@track@" -d "@year@" -G "@genre@"
ONLYIFLAST = FALSE
FULLNAME = NONE
ENCODER = C:\encoders\vorbisgain.exe
PARAMETERS = "D:\My Music\Vorbis\@artist@ - @album@\@track@ - @title@.ogg"
ONLYIFLAST = FALSE
Of course, 'ENCODER' values and directories should be changed accordingly to your setup.

sorry to beat this to death.
Ok, so this shows me how to set up vorbisgain. Thanks!
My FLAC encoding comes after this. Will this be affected in any way?

Nope.
And further inquiry about MAREO's setup should be continued in MAREO's thread, thank you. =)
