Hi All,

My first post here. I'm trying to build a Media PC to play all my music. Was told by a friend to buy the CMI8738 based chip with dig in and out. Got the card, after reading some post, downloaded the M-Audio DIO2448 drivers. However they don't work. The original CMI drivers works fine, but not bit for bit accurate. The MAudio ones install, but a lot of the settings are missing in Audio Rack. The MAudio drivers dosen't come with any utils. I have manged to get digital output ONCE using the MAudio drivers, but then nothing. Am I using the correct drivers? I downloaed them from the MAudio site dated 2001. Can someone point me to where I can get the correct ones? Or let me know what I'm doing wrong.

I'm using Windows XP SP2.

Thanks in advanced.
Egor
Hello and welcome to Hydrogenaudio. You can try out the latest C-Media driver for CMI8768, it works fine on CMI8738-based cards.

Good luck!

I've downloaded the lastest drivers above. Installed it. Got some new tools to play with settings etc. Got sound coming out of the digital fine ... but still not bit for bit accurate. Playing music back, and it's still going through the mixer. i.e. you can still play other sounds.

Has anyone got any other suggestions?

There seems to be no sellers of that card here in New Zealand. However they seem to be avaliable in Australia. I'll see if I can get one sent here.

So this card, can do bit perfect output? Will it do that with it's own drivers? Or do I need a special driver like the MAudio for my CMI card?

Thanks

I don't personally own one, although I've been debating it for some time. I've heard from many people they do bit-perfect output with their own drivers. This is largely due to it using an VIA ENVY24 HT-S chipset. For some brief info check this out:
