I'm wondering what encoding technique is OGG based upon. Since it's a perceptual coder is it based on structure coming from the mpeg audio group, whatever the layer is ?

Reading this http://www.xiph.org/ogg/vorbis/doc/vorbis-...spec-intro.html might help. smile.gif

Since it's an open source format is it possible to consider OGG entering in the industry as a professionnal solution ?

Has any corporations adopt it for broadcasting applications ?

While I haven't given it a listen, I've heard that the BBC streams its news using ogg. I'd say that's a pretty good endorsement.

Already done, see this link for a few samples.

About broadcasting, you should try Icecast.

"Has any corporations adopt it for broadcasting applications ?"

The BBC had a trial run with vorbis streams.
